Fashion lecturer chooses Kovered style

Fashion lecturer chooses Kovered style

As a busy lecturer who teaches fashion design at London’s no. 1 ranked degree course at Kingston School of Art (Guardian University Guide league tables 2020) it is imperative that I look, but also feel good, in my day to day job. I needed a stylish bag that can endure the to-ing and fro-ing I do on a daily basis, whether on my commute to campus or London’s boutiques, galleries, and museums, where I do my research. It’s also a great way to carry book and research materials on my Brompton when I cycle to work.

Fashion is all about change but has increasingly become important to invest in strategies to ensure sustainability in the production and consumption of clothes as we tackle environmental issues. The fashion industry is one of the biggest contributors to climate change, so it is important to me that I teach my students to be more conscious in what they design and consume, and then to practice what I preach myself.

Buying classic, well crafted, accessories such as the bags produced by the Kovered team, is one way to combat the damage that overconsumption is doing to the environment. In addition, my conscience is eased by knowing that the materials used in Kovered bags are ethically and sustainably sourced.

For me, the Witham backpack in all black ticks all my boxes: stylish, classic, practical, sustainable and represents the future of fashion - something that is beautifully designed and made to last.
